We design our products to look good and to be used on a daily basis. And our aim is to inspire people to live with few timeless objects made to last. This is why quality over quantity is a cornerstone of our ethos and we have no interest in trends or seasonal collections.
Social and environmental issues are at the core of our work. By sourcing local materials, producing as little waste as possible and making our customers think about the impact of their choices, we aim to find sustainable solutions at every step of production.
STORY
We are Filipe and Sérgio, a graphic designer and a fashion designer. We met in Lisbon, ten years ago.
Since we began working together, our mutual interest has been to design objects for the everyday life that we ourselves want to use and wear. And our ambition was — and still is — to do it in the most sustainable way possible.
This is how wetheknot started. Facing the challenges that the twenty-first century has brought and exploring conscious alternatives inside the fashion industry.
Like upcycling fabrics from broken umbrellas found in the street and turning them into a collection of light-weight swimwear. Or deciding to use only high-quality textiles made in Portugal. Or openly acknowledging and giving credit to the people whose work is behind the production of our collections.
PEOPLE
To us, sustainability is not just about respecting the environment — it means respecting the people too.
We make transparency one of the key features in our process. Above all, we care about giving to each person who is working with us the visibility and the right acknowledgments they deserve.
Our clothes and accessories are handmade in Portugal by local partners who have been collaborating with us for years. We selected them to ensure the highest quality for our products. They not only contribute in bringing our design ideas to life, but also — and especially — in helping us grow, thanks to the expertise and craftsmanship of their work.
Dona Manuela
SEAMSTRESS
Based in Famalicão, in the north of Portugal, Dona Manuela was our first partner. She has worked as a seamstress all her life in medium-sized factories in her region. After that, she decided to be independent, and started working from her home. She’s a very energetic woman, young spirited and loves a good laugh. She makes every vegan leather pouch and most of the clothes in our collections, precisely in her home.

Sohil Vahora
SEAMSTER AND TAILOR
His hometown in India, Gujarat, is the place where he learned how to sew and make patterns.
Sohil is a highly skillful sewer and masters his art with great ease. Most of our vegan leather accessories, for example, come to life through his hands: the backpacks, the card holders and the pencil cases. But that’s not all: Circle scarves, trousers and shorts and most prototypes are his work too.
He’s a joyful man that likes to listen and sing Indian songs while working. We feel truly fortunate to have him in our team.
